Being able to see materials and toys easily in their play area. Particularly challenging/frustrating for nonverbal kids is not being able to Express the toy or book they are looking for. Placing books in outward-facing display units allows nonverbal children to see the book they are looking for and pull it off the shelf without having to verbalize or read the title.
Storing their toys and games in clear containers Will make it easy for them to point to or select their preferred activities on their own. If clear containers aren’t the right size, or not available for the items you need to store, put a photo of the item on the outside of the box for easy viewing and selection.
